The Theatergesellschaft Entlebuch (Engl. Theatre Society Entlebuch) was founded in 1837 as an association, following earlier theatre activities in Entlebuch in a loose alliance since 1834. The society is located in the municipality Entlebuch, Canton Luzern, Switzerland, and has been active until today. Every few years the society presents a lavish operetta production that involves around 200 participants, most of them being locals and amateurs.[1]
Repertoire
In its beginnings, the Theatergesellschaft Entlebuch staged mainly drama, often with historical or patriotic subjects. Towards the end of the 19th century there was a shift towards musical comedy. Since the 1920s, operetta has been the core of the repertoire. Venue
Over the course of decades and centuries, the Theatergesellschaft Entlebuch most often used the Port Hotel as a venue for their productions.[3]
