Volkstheaterfestival Meiringen

From Amateur Theatre Wiki

The Volkstheaterfestival Meiringen is an amateur theatre festival held annually in the town of Meiringen, Canton Bern, Switzerland. It was established in 2019 and seeks to honor amateur theatre productions of high quality, bringing together eight selected ensembles every year in five days of performances, workshops and festive events.[1]

Nomination

Amateur theatre groups can register their current theatre production on the website.[1] The theatre comission of the festival watches registered productions and nominates eight ensembles which are then invited to take part in the festival.[2]

Festival

The Volkstheaterfestival Meiringen lasts five days during which the invited ensembles perform their productions in the Tramhalle Meiringen, competing to be awarded with the "Golden Meringue" by the festival jury. There are also theatrical workshops, group outings and various festive and themed events. In the so-called theatre village participants and audiences can meet and spend time together.[3][1]
