Swedish Royal Theatre Monopoly

From Amateur Theatre Wiki

In 1798, Gustav IV Adolf decided that within the city limits of Stockholm, only theatres funded by the court should be open. In practice, this resulted in the Swedish Royal Dramatic theatre and Opera being the only (professional) theatres within the city allowed to produce and showcase performances.

The monopoly was abolished in 1842.
