Muriel Wilson

From Amateur Theatre Wiki

Muriel (Thetis) Wilson (1875-1964) was an amateur actress. She was the daughter of Arthur Wilson, of Tranby Croft, near Hull, in the East Riding of Yorkshire.

Muriel Wilson performed at Chatsworth House as part of the Duchess of Devonshire's theatricals in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. She was a member of Evelyn James's amateur dramatic company, who had their first performance at West Dean in 1895. A photograph of Wilson was used as the cover image for The Bystander magazine on 21 November 1906 with the caption 'A Famous Society Actress'.

She became Muriel Warde after her marriage to Lieutenant (later Captain) Richard E. Warde in Hull.
