Lady Archibald Campbell
Lady Archibald Campbell (née Janey Sevilla Callander) was an amateur theatre actress and producer. She established a group called the Pastoral Players who began to act amateur theatricals outdoors. What is particularly striking about the their productions are their large amateur casts.
In July 1885 the Pastoral Players performed John Fletcher's The Faithful Shepherdesse at Coombe House. In the programme Lady Archibald Campbell is listed as the President of the society while E. W. Godwin is listed as the Director. The programme tells us that the play was adapted and produced under the sole direction of Godwin. The costumes were applied by Samuel May's costumiers and the wigs by William Clarkson.
