William (Willy) Clarkson in 1934

William Berry Clarkson (31 March 1861 - 12/13 October 1934) was a costumier and perruquier. By the end of the nineteenth century he had established his reputation as one of the leading costumiers and wigmakers in Britain. Although he supplied costumes for many of the professional theatres in London and the regions, his business model relied on the booming amateur theatre sector in the second half of the century. From 1889, his company provided costumes for Queen Victoria's family theatricals.
