History
The BATV was founded in 1991 with the aim of fostering amateur theater culture in Brandenburg. Over the years, the association has organized various events, workshops, and festivals to enhance the skills of its members and to showcase their theatrical productions. A milestone in the association's history is the organization of the Brandenburgische Amateurtheatertage (BATT), a biennial festival that brings together theater groups from across the state to perform and engage in artistic exchange.
Activities
The BATV's activities include:
- Organizing workshops and training sessions for actors, directors, and other theater practitioners to improve their craft.
- Hosting the Brandenburgische Amateurtheatertage (BATT), providing a platform for amateur theater groups to present their work and engage with a wider audience.
- Publishing materials and resources related to amateur theater, such as the "Theaterblatt", which was launched 1994.[1]
- Facilitating networking opportunities among theater groups within Brandenburg and beyond.
Structure
The association operates through a board of directors and maintains a membership base comprising various amateur theater groups from the region. Regular meetings, such as the Theaterleiterkonferenz (Theater Leaders Conference), are held to discuss organizational matters, plan events, and address challenges faced by member groups.
